A few of my Favorite Things

Happy Thursday! Today I’ll be talking about some of my favorite things at the moment. My Morning Routine-2

Lately, things have been really busy. I just finished up with my finals on Tuesday (I’m not a sophomore anymore, YAY), and I have been extremely stressed. A few posts back I talked about some things that help me destress lately, so you should definitely check that out if you need a little help in that department. A few of those things are included in my post today, along with a few other favorite that I just have to tell you about. My favorites range from music to clothing to makeup. Grab a cup & read on!

Weekends are for brunch: Brunch OOTD

This past Sunday I spent the morning brunching with my girlfriends. Honestly, I’ve never been to brunch before, but it was just as magnificent as I imagined. Nothing is better than mimosas and good friends (except for the fact that I was cheers-ing with my coffee because I’m not 21 yet). Nonetheless, it was a fun way to celebrate the end of the semester. FullSizeRender Continue reading

Hello. Goodbye.

HELLO SUMMER and goodbye to this semester. Summer is so close I can almost taste it. Is the semester seriously almost over? It seems like it flew by so fast. I have already taken two finals, two more to go; then I have a good two months off before I take a summer class. It’s a little bitter sweet, but exciting, knowing that this will be my last graded blog post, and then I have free range from there. I have learned a lot in my Fundamental’s of Digital and Online Media class this semester, and I’m so happy that class is part of my major. It really made me realize how much I enjoy my major, and makes me so excited for what my future holds. Today I’m going to talk a little bit about my experience blogging for my FDOM class.
hellogoodbye

For the purpose of promoting myself on social media, I used Twitter (which was required by my class), and that worked pretty well. I also joined a few Facebook groups for bloggers and promoted my blog there. Something that I did to add my own personal touch when promoting myself was add photos or graphics with my tweets to add a little more interest. Pictures are much more effective, now more than ever, so I believe that helped me out. To create my graphics, I use an awesome website called Canva. It is a graphic design website that has everything there for you. It is extremely user friendly.

I think that this blogging experience will definitely help me in my future, as it has tested my ability to think and act on creativity, while meeting a deadline. I hope to be a successful blogger one day, because I have really found my passion through this semester long project. I have always loved writing, and now I have a creative outlet to create content that I couldn’t otherwise.

Statisics

During this semester, my most popular week was February 15-21 with a total of 98 views that week. This was my first week of blogging, and I also posted my morning routine that week, which is my most viewed post. My morning routine ,”Ya snooze ya lose”, got a total of 64 views. I know that morning routines are a hot topic at the moment, so I have a feeling that is why it received so many views. I also joined the blogger Facebook groups that week and promoted my blog on there, as well as on Twitter.

Screen Shot 2016-05-08 at 7.10.26 PMMost of my views overall came from Twitter, followed by Facebook. I wasn’t as active on the Facebook groups near the end as I was in the beginning, so I have a feeling if I were more consistent with promoting my blog there it would’ve been the first referrer. Something that surprised me is that people actually read my blog from 7 countries, such as Ireland, Canada, and Nigeria. It’s pretty cool to see what a wide reach my blog could make, and I plan on continuing it to see who else I can impact.

This semester was a great one, and I have learned so much from FDOM. Happy summer, everyone.

Always,

Why You Should Get a Dog in College

IMG_2339Today, I left my dog at home and I am a little down about it. She needs training, so my mom had me leave her in Houston for a few weeks so that she can get the training she needs. My apartment has never been quieter, and I hate it. Therefore, I’m making you a list of reasons you should get a dog in college (that is if you are financially able and are willing to give it the dedication an animal deserves). Really though, don’t just get an animal because you think it will be fun. Sometimes it isn’t fun, and you have to take that into consideration. Continue reading

Get Up and Out: Take a hike

Have you ever felt isolated or lonely? Get outside! One of the best way to lift yourself up is by getting some sunlight. This past week was pretty rough for me, with school and everything. My blinds were honestly closed all week, and then I realized that that probably wasn’t helping my mindset very much. Continue reading

Gratefulness is happiness

COFFEEI am currently sitting in the living room of my apartment, listening to the bustle of my roommates eating dinner, chatting and listening to music. I came across this article about creating a night routine, and how night routines are just as important as morning routines. As I was reading, the article talked about something that really stuck with me: practicing gratitude. The importance of practicing gratefulness has come up a few times in my recent past, and I figured it would be a good thing to talk about. Not just good, but important.  Continue reading

Work work work to change

imageToday while I was binge watching Buzzfeed videos on YouTube, I was feeling rather unmotivated. I wanted to change this, so naturally I typed “How to get motivated” into the YouTube search box, and the video that caught my attention was “Getting Motivated & Staying Positive” by YouTuber Rachel Talbott. This video encouraged me to get up and do something with my life. I marched out the door with Molly in tow, and we walked around my apartment complex as I contemplated what I wanted to change.
